The video takes you on a tour inside a 10x10x10 foot cube house which is designed as a “green building” to lessen carbon emissions to the atmosphere. They are also incredibly fast to assemble. These houses are designed by Dr. Mike Page for the Cube Project under the license of Bolton Buildings. This is a practical and a modern microhome in which one or two people can live comfortably, if a little cosily.

Carbon dioxide would not normally be considered a pollutant since it is a normal constituent of air. However, the excess of carbon dioxide leads to adverse effects on the environment. A higher concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is likely to increase its temperature and has led many scientists to believe that it is a contributing factor in global warming and climate change. According to an estimate, the average temperature of the earth has increased by one degree Celsius in the last fifty years due to high carbon emissions. If the atmospheric temperature rises by three degree Celsius, the polar ice caps and glaciers would melt. As a result water level of oceans will rise for about a hundred meters leading to flooding of coastal areas all around the world. The Cube Project aims to lessen that by building energy efficient homes.

The lighting inside the house makes use of LED which is known to be one of the most energy efficient types of lighting on the market. Eight solar panels are installed on the roof and another eight on the south wall which can generate three kilowatts per hour of power which is more than enough to make the cube carbon and energy neutral.

Yes, it might be small but it has a fully functional kitchen with a hob, oven, fridge-freezer; a galley bathroom; a two-seater sofa and two further ottomans; a full sized double bed and ample storage space.

It is also super-fast to build: The outer structure only takes around 4 hours to be put together / made waterproof and the whole structure including insulation, wiring, door and windows can be finished in three to four days!
