Soda cans are found everywhere. What we didn’t know is that this piece of junk is a survivalist’s treasure in disguise. Here is a list of survival hacks using soda cans:
1. Lamp/Candle Hanger
Materials:
– Soda can
– Blade/scissors
– Sharpie pen
Steps:
a. Draw a big capital “i” along the center of the can.
b. Cut the lines using a blade or scissors.
c. Open up the two side wings and hold them back.
d. Light up your small candle and place it inside.
e. Use the soda tab to hang. (Reminder: Do not hang this inside a tent. Tents are not safe places for naked flame and they can burn up incredibly fast. This lamp should only be used in a place that is safe to avoid catching fire.)

2. Soda Can Torch
Materials:
– Soda can
– Olive oil/cooking oil
– Table napkins/Paper towel
Steps:
a. Roll up the paper towels.
b. Dip the rolled paper towel into the olive oil.
c. Pour some olive oil into the can (about halfway)
d. Place the paper towel inside and light it up.

3. Penny Can Stove
Materials:
– 2 soda cans
– Sharpie
– Nail and hammer
– Scissors
– Silicon based gasket
– Attic insulation fiber glass

4. Survival Whistle
Materials:
– Soda can
– Sharpie
– Scissors
This one is very easy and handy. You will just cut, fold, and roll a strip from the soda can and ta-da! you already have a whistle.

5. Hanger/Hook for your stuff
Materials:
– Tab of the soda can
– Paracord
– Scissors
Steps:
a. Cut out an area on the middle part of the tab.
b. Tie the paracord on the top.

6. Signaling Mirror/Reflector
Materials:
– Soda can
– Aluminum paste/polish
Steps:
a. Rub the aluminum paste and polish the bottom of the aluminum can.

7. Lighter
With the item in number 6 (above) and a char cloth, place it under the bright sun. Apply just a little bit of patience and you can light a fire with this.

8. Shim Open A Padlock
Materials:
-Soda Can
-Scissors
