VSSL is a company known for their high quality, reliable survival gear contained inside a waterproof, aluminum cylinder. This unit is 9 inches long, 2 inches in diameter, weighs about 19 ounces and is made out of anodized aluminum. One end of the cylinder is a dual mode LED flood beam lantern light which is capable of illuminating a large area and the other has an oil filled compass on its surface.
The cylinder contains a lightweight emergency shelter which would be perfect if you need temporary protection from the elements or if you become lost or need to rest a minor injury. It will shield you from the elements and can also be used as a first aid blanket to prevent or counter hypothermia. Another great feature of the tent is that it has a reflective surface which increases your visibility in case you need to be rescued. Aside from the polyethylene tent, the kit also contains 20 feet of rope which you can use for cordage.
