In this interesting “low tech” video from Foresty Forest Youtube channel we see the construction of a very cozy looking forest cabin. This was the first cabin he ever built. Happy to see that he’s using fallen timbers and not cutting any trees down!
The first step is preparing the wooden poles – first cutting them to length using a Ryobi electric chainsaw, then stripping the bark and small branches with a hatchet.
The poles are fitted together with notches and then drilled to permit pegs to be hammered in which will hold the logs in place.
The first three courses make up the sub-floor and the third course is notched to allow the poles of the bed frame to be laid down.
Moss is used as a filler in between log courses in order to provide draft-proofing.
This is very much a “roots” DIY low-tech build with a laid back, refreshingly non-perfectionist approach. He’s not too fussy and there’s a healthy dose of “DGAF” being applied. Everything is seemingly being done “by eye” – low tech style. He’s got it down though. I was slightly alarmed to see him using a disc cutter and other tools to cut up that old gas bottle without wearing gloves or (as far as I can tell) eye glasses. Obviously he got away with it but please, wear protective clothing. The final result is a low-tech classic: The gas-bottle wood burner. Fired up outdoors for the first time to burn away the paint, these sure do kick out a lot of heat but as wood burners go, they don’t have a door seal and so they won’t “stay in” overnight.
I think the most impressive part of this build is the hinge system for the front door. I’ve never seen anything like that before! It’s low-tech genius.
Finally we learn that there were a few problems. Mosquitos were “pouring in” at around 5.30am and he headed for the van to finish up his night’s sleep. He said it’s not a place to hang out if you are squeamish about insects – and that droplets of pine sap were falling from the roof timbers.
He admits that he could easily buy a ten-dollar tarp to prevent the roof from leaking but he’s proud of the fact that he used 100% natural materials without even so much as a nail. The cabin will eventually rot away and leave no trace… and so he leaves it behind for someone else to discover… before wandering off; presumably without any plan to return.

This Crazy Off Grid Device Literally Makes Drinkable Water From Fresh Air:
According to NASA, the U.S. is expecting a 100-YEAR LONG MEGADROUGHT.
It's already begun. Ask the farmers in California. They know.
Every survivalist knows that water is of critical importance. You NEED an independent water source that you can count on!
As an interesting "survival rehearsal" - imagine that you turned the tap on right now and nothing came out. How long would you last?
But what if there was another water source literally hidden in plain sight. That's right, I'm talking about the atmosphere!
The amazing thing about getting water from the natural moisture in the air... is that it is ALWAYS available.
This gives you real water security!

Most People Don't Have The Guts To Try This:
An amazing discovery in an abandoned house in Austin, Texas: A lost book of amazing survival knowledge, believed to have been long vanished to history, has been found in a dusty drawer in the house which belonged to a guy named Claude Davis.
Remember... back in those days, there was no electricity... no refrigerators... no law enforcement... and certainly no grocery store or supermarkets... Some of these exceptional skills are hundreds of years of old and they were learned the hard way by the early pioneers.
We've lost to history so much survival knowledge that we've become clueless compared to what our great grandfathers did or built on a daily basis to sustain their families.
Neighbors said that for the last couple of years Claude has tried to unearth and learn the forgotten ways of our great-grandparents and claimed to have found a secret of gargantuan proportions. A secret that he is about to reveal together with 3 old teachings that will change everything you think you know about preparedness:
What REALLY Happens When You Bury a Shipping Container? (Hint: It's A Bit Crazy...)
Shipping containers are all the rage - but if you are thinking about buying one, you MUST watch this video first:
Do not, I repeat do NOT do what these lunatics did! Can you spot the "fatal mistake" they made?
There's a general belief that if you bury a shipping container you can create an awesome root cellar / storm shelter / survival bunker.
But is a shipping container strong enough to handle the pressure?
