Tutorial: What Is Aquaponics? (And How It Works) Photo – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1kozprw8Y
This is a great tutorial for anyone interested in creating their own productive aquaponic system at home to grow plants and fish for food. Very basically, aquaponics works by circulating water through fish tanks and plant growing beds so that the waste from the fish feeds the food plants and the plants cleanse the water for the fish. It’s an elegant solution that mimics a natural cycle, minimizes waste and maximizes food yield.
Aquaponics can be used in most climates but would be perfect for anyone who has poor soil or a dry climate where watering traditional crops is intensive. Another advantage is that because there’s no soil needed, your salad leaves will be clean and free from grit! 😉
It is fairly easy to maintain an aquaponic system – as long as you include all of the basic ingredients and have the right equipment. The video tells you in some detail about each part of the system and what you need to input to keep both plants and fish healthy and growing well. Incredibly, once you have your setup, there are only three or four things to add!
There’s plenty of technical info here to help you to succeed… John, the video presenter, has a good understanding and great attitude to organic gardening – encouraging minimal use of chemicals. Just as important is the fact that a good aquaponic system includes other organisms such as microbes, crustaceans and even worms. This is using the principle of “recycling” that nature uses constantly to make the growing system work – by copying and allowing natural processes, gardeners can get all the help that they need!
“Growing Your Greens” have produced several videos about aquaponics, this one being the first – if you want to create your own system, it’s worth doing plenty of research as it’s more difficult than your standard form of gardening in the soil. Having said that, many of the same basic rules apply – for example, you’ll need to choose the right plants for your climate and give yourself time to take good care of them.

Neighbors said that for the last couple of years Claude has tried to unearth and learn the forgotten ways of our great-grandparents and claimed to have found a secret of gargantuan proportions. A secret that he is about to reveal together with 3 old teachings that will change everything you think you know about preparedness:
