This is a useful “quick survival checklist” I put together to help you think about all the various aspects of survival. Have a look through this list, feel free to print it out or bookmark it, and use it as a basis for your preparedness. I’ve linked to our further tutorials for those who want to learn more.

1: Air – without it, you don’t have long to live… Air IS survival! Fun fact: Over 2 million people die per year from causes related to poor air quality. In many survival situations, terrible air quality is part of the deal. An air purifier (HEPA, not ionizer) and a respirator (a real one, not a paper mask) should be high on your survival shopping list.

2: Health & Medical – Staying healthy, Medical Knowledge, First aid kit & skill, Natural Medicine / Herbalism

3: Financial Independence / “Situational Freedom” – Money / Savings / Logistics / Income. Many survival problems can be solved with money and although its not fashionable to say it, this will be the case in most situations. Yes, there are times when being able to make a fire by rubbing sticks will save you – but realistically, a credit card can also be a survival tool, if you can 100% avoid misuse, which takes iron self discipline and reliable income! 4: Fitness – Can you run? Can you do physically demanding work? Can you fight?

5: Food Independence – Growing / Foraging / Wild Food / Canning / Freezing / Seed Saving / Deep Storage / Barter Networks

7: Shelter – Safe, secure, dry, cool in summer, warm in winter, healthy air, restful, comfortable.

8: Home Defense / Home Security – Super strong home defense / security is better than violence. You don’t have to bludgeon someone who cannot physically break in. And you can’t be arrested for having super strong doors! etc. It is far better to avoid potential consequences if you can. I read a crazy story recently of a man who killed an intruder in his home – and then had to face trial. But what if he had had mega security and the intruder simply couldn’t get in? 19: Self Defense – I have to be careful what I say here… so, learn what is legal in your region, make sure you keep within those guidelines and have whatever permits are required. Understand what levels of force you are permitted to use in which situations, and get trained.

20: “FUTURE PREP” – We don’t know what the future holds, but we do know it’s going to get crazier. What will you prep against? Ai? Cybercrime? Robot cops? Nano drones? total surveillance? Lockdowns? I know, this might sound a little wild – but if you think about how significantly all of this will affect our lives in the coming years, giving us new challenges and real survival scenarios… we need to think about it. 21: Disaster preparedness – Financial collapse / Disease / pandemic (a real one).
Natural disaster – earthquake, flood, meteorite, extreme heat, extreme cold, drought.

22. Sanitation – I nearly forgot about this one! Do not forget about this one. Sanitation is mission critical to survivalism, yet you don’t see it talked about as much (clearly because it’s not the most fun part) however communities without proper sanitation quickly suffer serious disease. A very significant part of the increased lifespan of the modern era was the installation of municipal sanitation systems.
