In this astonishing video, our survivalist takes on the challenge of building a tiled-roof hut… only this is not something that is happening “in civilization”. He is literally starting with nothing – first making a primitive axe using a stone and a branch, using strips of bark / vine as rope… and so on. He doesn’t even use a knife. Absolutely everything comes from his immediate surroundings.

It’s a fantastic demonstration of ingenuity and the ability for the skilled survivalist to make a decent shelter from scratch.

My favorite part is where he creates the tiles from muddy clay and then fires them… from the kiln that he made himself to the frame that creates the uniform rectangular shape of the tiles. It’s absolutely amazing.

Oh, and wait until you see the “sub floor heating”…

The biggest takeaway from this for me was that it is his patience that is the most remarkable thing here. He states that this is a hobby and that he doesn’t live full time in the wild. So, he isn’t actually required to do any of this. He could get all of these things much more “easily” if he wanted. But this is a demonstration of the true satisfaction in creativity. If we get everything in life “too easily”… what will we really have?
