Tutorial: How To Find Water In The Wilderness. Photo – Adobe Stock (under license)
This tutorial (link below our commentary) provides a really good, in-depth guide to finding water in the wilderness! This knowledge is brought to us from Australia, a country that has vast areas of arid land. It is clear that some of these ideas come from the native aboriginal people who know the land intimately so it’s not surprising that there are so many ingenious methods on offer!
Bushcraft – the art and skills of surviving in the “bush” (Australian word for “wilderness”) – has become a very popular activity in recent times. Learning about survival is a great way to get in touch with our instincts and boost confidence – but it has relevance even if you are “in civilization”: We all know that even with modern technology and systems, none of us can survive for more than a few days without water – so a disaster scenario could test your knowledge and skills without you having to leave home!
There are now a lot of courses in survival techniques available and information online that will give you a wide variety of options to draw on in an emergency. Finding water is the most important step to ensuring your survival so it’s a priority to learn where to look. After you have found a source of water, the next step is to make it safe for drinking.
If you’re a keen hiker, there are a few items that are definitely worth considering to add to your survival kit. One of the best is a portable water purifier such as the LifeStraw or SteriPen – these are very small, lightweight devices that can be used to purify water for drinking on demand without the need for boiling.
If you’re unable to boil water or use a purifier, another way is to leave water in a clear bottle in the sunlight for a day – this won’t guarantee its safety but the UV light will kill off a lot of the bacteria that could make you sick.
On a lighter note, I wonder if any of you have seen the film “Beautiful People” that features a very clever way to find water using a monkey and some salt, from the Kalahari bushmen: A bushman, making sure that some monkeys can see what he is doing, carefully drills a horizontal hole in an old termite mound and puts some salt in the end of the hole, then backs off to wait. A monkey comes forward and attempts to get a precious lump of salt out of the hole – he grabs it but then gets stuck because he can’t understand that he needs to let go again in order to remove his arm. The bushman rushes forward and puts a rope around his neck, frees him by offering another lump of salt and then ties him to a tree and feeds him more salt. Once the monkey gets really thirsty and uncomfortable the bushman lets him go and follows him to the nearest source of water!!

This Crazy Off Grid Device Literally Makes Drinkable Water From Fresh Air:
According to NASA, the U.S. is expecting a 100-YEAR LONG MEGADROUGHT.
It's already begun. Ask the farmers in California. They know.
Every survivalist knows that water is of critical importance. You NEED an independent water source that you can count on!
As an interesting "survival rehearsal" - imagine that you turned the tap on right now and nothing came out. How long would you last?
But what if there was another water source literally hidden in plain sight. That's right, I'm talking about the atmosphere!
The amazing thing about getting water from the natural moisture in the air... is that it is ALWAYS available.
This gives you real water security!

What Tinnitus Does To Your Brain Cells (And How To Stop It)
After 47 years of studies and countless brain scans done on more than 2,400 tinnitus patients, scientists at the MIT Institute found that in a shocking 96% of cases, tinnitus was actually shrinking their brain cells.
As it turns out, tinnitus and brain health are strongly linked.
Even more interesting: The reason why top army officials are not deaf after decades of hearing machine guns, bombs going off and helicopter noises...
Is because they are using something called "the wire method", a simple protocol inspired by a classified surgery on deaf people from the 1950s...
Most People Don't Have The Guts To Try This:
An amazing discovery in an abandoned house in Austin, Texas: A lost book of amazing survival knowledge, believed to have been long vanished to history, has been found in a dusty drawer in the house which belonged to a guy named Claude Davis.
Remember... back in those days, there was no electricity... no refrigerators... no law enforcement... and certainly no grocery store or supermarkets... Some of these exceptional skills are hundreds of years of old and they were learned the hard way by the early pioneers.
