Did you know that the super glue is listed as one of the top inventions of the 20th century? And because of its superelastic strength, it can even hold a hanging car.

So what makes super glue so super? With Cyanoacrylates as its main active ingredient, it allows bonding of different metal to plastic materials instantly. It was invented while researchers were looking for clear plastic materials suitable for gun sights for the World War II. In 1942, a team of scientists lead by Harry Coover Jr. developed a formulation bringing forth to the diversity of outstanding adhesives we use to today.

Here we present 6 reasons why you should always bring your super glue with you especially when you go backpacking or camping:

1. Fixing equipment holes. Super glue is one of the best solutions for small holes on your equipment and other containers. After application, wait for a few hours to dry before bringing it into any contact with liquid especially on your water bottles.
2. Medical uses. Yes, super glue is a great alternative for band-aids. You can apply it on any cut or injury to stop the bleeding. It’s more effective than stitches and it prevents wound infections.
3. Repair boot damage. Regardless of the price you paid for your pair of boots, you really can’t avoid all possibility of damage – especially on rocky mountains and in the woods. Super glue is your quick fix for that.
4. Repair tents and backpacks. Repair any damage to backpacks or broken tents with just a small amount of super glue.
5. Filler. When added to baking soda, super glue is an effective gap filler for general repair or sealing up gaps in things.
6. Emergency wound glue. Turns out that super glue works really well in this application. First, clean/disinfect the wound really well, dry the laceration and place small beads (droplets) of the glue at the ends and a few in the center of the cut. The glue will hold and begin to fall off after a few days – more than enough time for healing. The bonus of this technique is that you may have less scarring than sutures (and it’s less painful!) – and if your work is really precise, scarring should be minimized. And of course if you are out in the wilds it’s going to be a lot less hassle than sewing yourself up…

Shelf life: If unopened, one year from manufacture date and if once opened, it can dry out quickly – perhaps lasting only last a month.

Recommended Storage:Best stored in a cool, dry location such as a refrigerator at a temperature of about 55¼F (13¼C).

Health Warning: Super glue can be very hazardous. When inhaled, it can cause inflammation on your respiratory organs due to its strong, acidic smell. It can also trigger chronic allergic reactions to some individuals. And may irritate eyes and stimulate tears. When contacted on body parts, do not remove forcibly for it can cause injuries when skin is torn off. Should you want to remove the glue, use acetone or vegetable oil or you can just wait up to four days until the glue simply separates from the skin.

What Tinnitus Does To Your Brain Cells (And How To Stop It)

After 47 years of studies and countless brain scans done on more than 2,400 tinnitus patients, scientists at the MIT Institute found that in a shocking 96% of cases, tinnitus was actually shrinking their brain cells.

As it turns out, tinnitus and brain health are strongly linked.

Even more interesting: The reason why top army officials are not deaf after decades of hearing machine guns, bombs going off and helicopter noises...

Is because they are using something called "the wire method", a simple protocol inspired by a classified surgery on deaf people from the 1950s...
