How To Build A Rain Barrel System. Photo – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGFDlkJOdaM
Rainfall produces an amount of water that surprises most people. A typical roof might collect 600 gallons of water for every inch of rain! With 20 inches of rain per year being quite common in temperate climates, that adds up to 12,000 gallons per year! Now that’s a huge amount of water and wouldn’t it be a shame if you put all that to waste?
For off grid or remote living in any area where mains water is not supplied, rainwater collection can be absolutely critical – and even in areas where there is mains water, rainfall can reduce water bills and conserve water supplies during dry periods.
The video shows how you can collect that precious rain water so you can use it in your yard. During summer months the yard consumes 40% of household water so some small scale effort in setting up a rain water collecting system would definitely be worth your time.
First off, choose a location that is level and flat. Clear away any rocks and other debris from the area. A full barrel of water can weigh about four hundred pounds and it needs a stable foundation to prevent it from toppling over.
Now the most important materials here are the rain barrels. It depends on you how big or small you want them to be though it is ideal to pick one that can hold thirty to fifty-five gallons of water. You can buy brand new but used barrels are also an option because they are much cheaper. If you decide to go with the used ones, it is absolutely vital to make sure that it didn’t formerly contain oil, pesticides, or any other type of toxic substance.
If you are planning to store lots of water, you can use two to three barrels in your system. You can have hundreds of gallons of water at your disposal. To get rid of excess water, install an overflow pipe and make sure it faces away from your house’s foundation.
Some safety precautions from the video that are worth mentioning:
- Make sure the barrel has a lid to keep curious children, animals and birds from falling in – and to prevent mosquitoes from breeding.
- If you treated your roof with chemicals for killing moss or preserving wood, unhook the rain barrel for several weeks, you don’t want that water in there.

This Crazy Off Grid Device Literally Makes Drinkable Water From Fresh Air:
According to NASA, the U.S. is expecting a 100-YEAR LONG MEGADROUGHT.
It's already begun. Ask the farmers in California. They know.
Every survivalist knows that water is of critical importance. You NEED an independent water source that you can count on!
As an interesting "survival rehearsal" - imagine that you turned the tap on right now and nothing came out. How long would you last?
But what if there was another water source literally hidden in plain sight. That's right, I'm talking about the atmosphere!
The amazing thing about getting water from the natural moisture in the air... is that it is ALWAYS available.
This gives you real water security!

What Tinnitus Does To Your Brain Cells (And How To Stop It)
After 47 years of studies and countless brain scans done on more than 2,400 tinnitus patients, scientists at the MIT Institute found that in a shocking 96% of cases, tinnitus was actually shrinking their brain cells.
As it turns out, tinnitus and brain health are strongly linked.

Is because they are using something called "the wire method", a simple protocol inspired by a classified surgery on deaf people from the 1950s...
