Even the most advanced survival tools and supplies can be rendered useless if you don’t have the skills and knowledge to survive. Having a fundamental set of essential skills might help you and your family pull through a difficult time.
As the saying goes, what we consider prepping is what our ancestors considered everyday life! Here are our notes on the above video from City Prepping YouTube channel, featuring 10 skills that are likely to pay well if the economy goes South:
1. Hunting & Fishing: Meat is widely known as a valuable source of proteins. When you can no longer rely on commercially-bred meats due to industry disruptions in a depression, hunting and fishing become sought-after skills.
2. Foraging: Plants are a low-impact source of food – ideal for a survival situation. But while it’s likely that there are hundreds of plants in your neighborhood, you need to distinguish between the edible and toxic varieties. Can you?
3. Gardening and Farming: If buying food becomes difficult, self-produced food becomes more valuable. Learn how to grow your own food and raise animals for commercial and personal needs. It’s also a healthier and more “secure” source of food in the sense that it does not rely on economic infrastructure.
4. Cooking and Canning: When food is scarce, the last thing you want is to waste whatever is on your table. This is why you need to learn how to cook and properly preserve surplus food to feed your family through an economic depression.
5. Baking: From learning how to make flour from unconventional sources to making long-lasting sources of carbs, baking is a marketable skill.
6. Sewing, Knitting, Crocheting, Braiding, Knot Tying: There will come a time when you need to knit a blanket for harsh winter weather or to mend a torn pair of jeans to last longer. Being able to create and repair your own clothing was once a key skill and would become so again in economic collapse.
7. Homebrewing and Fermentation: Whether it’s to brew alcohol for sale or ferment cucumbers to provide a food source through the winter, learning the art of fermentation is an indispensable skill.
8. Mechanics and Engineering: Machines, tools, and electronics are bound to malfunction or break. And when this happens, someone with the technical know-how to repair and engineer machinery will be in high demand during a depression.
9. Medical Training: Learning how to prevent infections, dress wounds, and even administer herbal medicines correctly increases your chances of survival and allows you to care for others when medical attention is necessary.
10. Teaching, Childcare, Natal & Postnatal Care: It’s our responsibility to take care of the next generation, to ensure their survival and to transfer our knowledge (including survival skills) to them.

What Tinnitus Does To Your Brain Cells (And How To Stop It)
After 47 years of studies and countless brain scans done on more than 2,400 tinnitus patients, scientists at the MIT Institute found that in a shocking 96% of cases, tinnitus was actually shrinking their brain cells.
As it turns out, tinnitus and brain health are strongly linked.
Even more interesting: The reason why top army officials are not deaf after decades of hearing machine guns, bombs going off and helicopter noises...
Is because they are using something called "the wire method", a simple protocol inspired by a classified surgery on deaf people from the 1950s...
