Most people use their ice cube tray for “just ice” – but there are many ingenious (and fun) variations on the theme. This post we discovered by 17Apart will teach you how to make mint-infused ice cubes that will give a lovely flavor twist to your cocktail drinks – as well as looking the part!

Before we give you the link to the original tutorial, we’ve come up with a few more cool ways to use that ice tray that you might be interested to try:

Mini Popsicle Sticks – cut up your favorite fruits into small pieces and put them in the compartments. Stick a toothpick into the fruit and then pour your favorite juice or smoothie. Put the tray in the freezer and leave them there overnight. Try using silicone trays for this so that you can easily pop them out. You can also do this without the sticks for some amazing pure fruit ice cubes with incredible taste and color. 🙂

Chocolate Covered Frozen Strawberries – Ok, let’s go crazy with it. Pour some melted chocolate in each of the compartments. You could even make a “swirl” combination by melting (separately) white and semi-sweet chocolate. Pour in both, then take a toothpick and swirl the mixture together. Finally, stick in your strawberries in each compartment and then allow the tray to chill in the freezer for at least 10 minutes (can you handle it?) or so before eating. You could even just put them in the fridge if you are going to eat them there and then.

A Shot Of Coffee With Every Cube – If you don’t like the taste of iced coffee that has been diluted by ice cubes, you can brew or mix some coffee and then pour it into the tray. Freeze it and put this on your iced coffee. Full-power ice coffee with no watery taste!

Freeze Your Broth – Pour chicken or beef broth in the ice tray to make it last longer. Take out the cubes and use them for different recipes.
