One thing that undoubtedly ruins a backpacking experience is too heavy a pack – and a stove is one of the heaviest pieces of gear that needs to be included in an adventurer’s pack. The Vertex Ultralight Backpacking Stove, however, can solve this dilemma. This was designed by Kevin Bailey, founder of Vertex Outdoors. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Texas at Austin and enjoys hiking, camping and backpacking. He put his love of the outdoors and his knowledge of engineering to good use in making a simple product that is very easy to use.

This stove just weighs 1.8 ounces and has the following dimensions when assembled: 4.84 x 2.87 x 3.0 inches. It features a minimalistic design, has no moving parts and takes only seconds to assemble. The stove is made from tempered brushed titanium steel, and supports cooking pots with a minimum diameter of 3.5 inches. It also has a black nylon “stuff sack” to store all of the separate stove components while not in use. The recommended heating method is using fuel tablets which will produce heat up to 3,000ºF and they have also made the stove accommodate a popular alcohol burner, the Trangia spirit burner.

The Vertex stove performs well enough under wind-free conditions and warm temperatures but as with most solid fuel stoves, a breeze or cold, damp conditions could overwhelm it. So for you to enjoy it to the fullest, make sure that the flame is not exposed to wind and during cold weather, ensure that the lower part of the cooking pot is encapsulated.

It is a bit pricy – because titanium is more expensive than steel… but the titanium Vertex stove has a better weight to efficiency ratio than other stove offers.

😳 What Tinnitus Does To Your Brain Cells (And How To Stop It)

After 47 years of studies and countless brain scans done on more than 2,400 tinnitus patients, scientists at the MIT Institute found that in a shocking 96% of cases, tinnitus was actually shrinking their brain cells.

As it turns out, tinnitus and brain health are strongly linked.

Even more interesting: The reason why top army officials are not deaf after decades of hearing machine guns, bombs going off and helicopter noises…

Is because they are using something called "the wire method", a simple protocol inspired by a classified surgery on deaf people from the 1950s...

  1. In the picture it looks like it holds a simple alcohol gel can. (cheap from restaurant supply vendors). Nice..

  2. Why even take a stove when a Dakota fire hole does the job as well or better and it’s free.
