Recently more and more people are looking for other sources of energy to cut back on electricity costs or just do something that is environmental friendly. Solar power is growing more and more popular nowadays so from hot to cold; here is a short video that will show you how you can produce ice using solar power. This could be amazing for the summer! It is very simple and you only need the following materials:

• Solar panel – Two 45-watt or one 90-watt since the ice maker needs 90 watts per hour to keep it running.
• Battery – It is worth if you buy high quality batteries. There are some types that are not suited to being
discharged and re-charged many times. You will end up spending more money in replacing them if you buy low quality ones.
• Charge controller
• Ice maker
• Inverter – 1,000 watt

Things to keep in mind. First, make sure it’s really sunny out to utilize the solar panels to their full potential. Second, make sure to use quality wiring in connecting the system. Wires, cables and connectors are the most overlooked materials when setting up a network but they are more important than you think. Utilizing low quality wiring could result to short circuits or fires. Lastly, since the aim here is making ice then water is involved. Make sure not to spill water to the wires. Always make sure that the wires are covered and don’t place the finished ice anywhere near the electrical wirings.

One important thing to note about setting the system up is it needs 800 watts to get the ice maker
machine started and then requires 90 watts per hour to run it that’s why the thousand watt inverter is a must. The video is very short and it explains how to connect the system to the ice maker. It produces tons of ice in just a little amount of time which is perfect if you are going out camping or just simply want to live off the grid.

Note also, you will want a decent invertor and not one of the super-cheapo brands that don’t seem to kick out anywhere near their rated power.
