Camping enthusiasts will all agree that it is important to keep your pack as light as possible because a heavy pack can cause so much trouble and discomfort. The tent is usually the item that weighs the heaviest when backpacking. This tutorial video features a homemade bivy tent that only weighs nineteen ounces and it doesn’t take up much space when rolled up. This is about as light as it gets and could be the perfect tent for those who are aiming to reduce their total pack weight.

It is a one-man tent which measures seven feet in length, thirty-three inches in width and has a center height of twenty-four inches. One person can sleep inside comfortably with just enough elbow room. The front and back of the tent as well as its base is made out of nylon which extends to six inches along the sides to make it waterproof. The rest of the sides are made out of mesh for mosquito protection and to keep the temperature of the inside of tent cool. It has a rain fly, also made out of nylon, that goes over the tent in case of wet weather.

Tent care tips:

1. Tents should be stored somewhere dry, cool and out of direct sunlight.

2. Fold or roll the tent properly instead of just stuffing it into its sack.

3. If your tent is wet, dry it off first before rolling it up. The typical way to do this is leaving it out in the sun – but anywhere warm and dry will do. If a tent is rolled up when still wet, mildew can form in as little as one day and the tent will then smell bad, be stained, have unhealthful mold spores in the air and the fabric may also be weakened.

4. When you get home, give your tent some love by hand washing it with warm water and a mild soap. Rinse it well and hang out in the sun all day to dry fully. Avoid using detergent or bleach as these may affect the tent’s fabric. Some tents are also machine washable and although tents are often stated to be not machine washable, I always used to use the machine every time and it was just fine! At your own risk of course, but you might get away with it; use a low temperature if you are feeling brave enough to try!

😳 What Tinnitus Does To Your Brain Cells (And How To Stop It)

After 47 years of studies and countless brain scans done on more than 2,400 tinnitus patients, scientists at the MIT Institute found that in a shocking 96% of cases, tinnitus was actually shrinking their brain cells.

As it turns out, tinnitus and brain health are strongly linked.

Even more interesting: The reason why top army officials are not deaf after decades of hearing machine guns, bombs going off and helicopter noises…

Is because they are using something called "the wire method", a simple protocol inspired by a classified surgery on deaf people from the 1950s...
